Split transcriptional activators
Stocks carrying "split" transcriptional activators are listed here. These stocks carry either 1) a construct that expresses a DNA-binding domain protein based on either GAL4 or lexA or 2) a construct that expresses a transcriptional activation domain based on either GAL4, VP16 or p65. These proteins also carry a common leucine zipper motif dimerization domain enabling a DNA-binding protein and an activation domain protein to interact. Expression of each construct may be driven by different enhancers and promoters with transcriptional activation only occuring in cells where both proteins are expressed and able to interact. The Drosophila "split GAL4" system was first described in Luan et al., 2006.
