Redundant and rarely used insertions
We have identified 2,787 insertions that are rarely used or are redundant with other insertions in the BDSC collection. Over half are insertions in intergenic spaces, and there are four categories (see column 'Cull Category' below) into which these insertions fall:
1) CRIMIC for nearby gene – These are insertions in or near a gene for which we have at least one CRIMIC insertion in the gene. Usually (but not always) there are also other insertions for the nearby gene, and the insertion chosen for culling was in a disadvantageous position compared to the other insertions.
2) intergenic MiMIC – MiMIC insertions not located within a gene.
3) P{wHy} – See http://flybase.org/reports/FBrf0151478.htm for more details on these insertions.
4) Ring_Garza – See http://flybase.org/reports/FBrf0159884.htm for more details on these insertions.
